Challenge 1

As usual, life is always a rush.  I should be using black powder on white bullseye glass to draw a picture with my fingers, day 2 should be a tree with fingers and a business card.

However.... I couldn't think where on earth I had put the black powder so ended up using green fine frit rather than powder on clear float glass - not very impressed at my creation which means tomorrow I think I really should find the right tools for the job.  That's after I return to the day job.

Hi, I'm back! ...I know, I know, I've neglected this blog - or more accurately, forgotten about it altogether but it's time I got myself sorted.
Tomorrow I start a new challenge, something I found on the lovely facebook.  I meander through posts by a group called 'fused glass fanatics' and a lady there has set up a challenge to help teach us something new - fused glass powder sgraffito drawing challenge - the aim being a drawing a day for 30 days!  We'll see how I get on!

But for now I need to go & tidy up as I have friends coming for New Year - a typical new year celebrations on the cards for us - glass making at the dining room table, nibbles & silly games. Bliss

Oh, and here's something new too whilst I ponder whether I should also try the new social media site Tsu.

Oh, and for anyone that doesn't know, I have a facebook page too. Look for me at 'signed by sam' .....and have a fantastic New Year!

Saturday 13 April 2013

I've got a small business page on facebook!

I'm sorry I have been neglecting my blogspot but I have become a little distracted by building a page on facebook, you can search under 'signed by sam' & then get a little confused - some time back I started it up, then more recently I started a totally new page & set it up from that instead and have slowly developed it, showing pictures & sharing some fab work by other artists and crafters. I feel like I am part of one large crafty family and it's brilliant! The downside, of course, is when I post what I think is a great picture of some recent work & nobody 'likes' it. Ah well, I should just tell myself that I should be spending more time crafting & making rather than looking at numbers on facebook!

I've started thinking craft shows too, I'm booked for Welwyn Art & Craft fair at the beginning of May and am currently 'umming and aahing' over whether to book to sell at the Alban Arena, more money than I am used to and an unknown show but think I will take the chance - I just LOVE getting out to meet fellow artists and get feedback on my work from them and the general public, who, if I am lucky, will be happy to part with some of their hard owned cash in exchange for a piece of totally unique art produced by me (ok, or my husband Scott who plays alongside me)

Hope to see you all soon, at a craft fair or at my facebook page  ....https://www.facebook.com/pages/Signed-by-Sam

Until then, here are a couple of recent 'makes'

Open house for fused glass

Having finally done by final craft show of the year I am now having an 'open house' for anyone to come along to to look at all my glass which will be out on display.  I've still been making things since my last show, more jewellery, another beach hut picture, more Christmas decorations.

If anyone would like to come along, even just for a cuppa & a cookie (which I really must find time to make tomorrow after work), please feel free to pop along either Friday evening, between 6 & 9 or Saturday afternoon between 2 & 5.

I'm at 196 Shephall Way, Stevenage, Herts, SG2 9RD.

Look forward to seeing a few of you (well, a few friends are planning on coming along, anyone else is a bonus).  I am also looking forward to stuffing myself with cookies!

Right, back to tidying up in readiness (sorry, I can predict it will still be messy by tomorrow as I'm off out to cubs soon).

A good weekend

Thank you to all the visitors who came along to Applecroft School Christmas Craft fair yesterday.  It was lovely to hear such good things about my work, put such a big smile on my face, oh, and money in the pot so I can now order my next batch of glass.

Now the only snag is how much stock I need to make for the next shows & an open house I am planning.  (Please let me know if you would like to come along, or bring friends)  Of course, I would be making things now but I am getting the kiln shelves sorted (they need occasional clearing off & re-kiln washing in so glass doesn't stick the shelves).

If I can get it to work, below will be pictures of my current remaining stock (more or less)
